I just talked to acouple today that knew my dad and mother they are from Assiniboia. They updated me that my parents Andrew Sidloski and Peggy were married in Rockglen, I had no idea. So I googled it to see if I could find anything, and suprise what a beautiful video. What a beautiful little town, I really did not think any hills in Saskatchewan, lol. My grandparents, Earl and Anne Leigh, lived in Rockglen when I was growing up in the late 1950's and the 1960's. They lived in a house very close to Columbus, which my sister and I climbed many times. My grandfather worked at the school. They moved to Esterhazy when I was a teenager, but I've always remembered Rockglen. In high school I wrote an essay called "Happiness" - which I explained was the town of Rockglen and Columbus hill. Frankly, I never knew until today if there was really a Columbus hill, or if my sister and I had just called it that! Someday I hope to get to see Rockglen again. I live in Colorado now, and have climbed a "fourteener" (a mountain over 14,000 feet high), but I still want to climb Columbus again. |
